Article: The Green Fairy Says Cheese

This is a fantastic write up of our Absinthe & Cheese night at Milk the Cow. We were delighted to have the knowledgeable Benjamin Luzz join us for two nights of Absinthe & Cheese heaven. For those of you who missed out, never fear, the Green Fairy will return.

Absinthe and cheese, who knew? Well apparently Ben Luzz from Gin Palace and Bar Ampere and Laura Lown from Milk the Cow had a fairly good idea. And from their impressive collective knowledge, grew the Absinthe and Cheese tasting.

News: Milk the Cow Carlton Open

That’s right, our second Milk the Cow has opened its doors on Lygon Street, Carlton! It feels like it should – cosy decor, bespoke milking chandeliers, cheese for miles… See what everyone has been saying about it and if you’re in the area, come on down!

“Like St Kilda, Carlton is decked out with electric milking chandeliers and grass-green banquettes, but the north-side store features more timber, copper and hanging bench swings usually reserved for patios. The clincher, though, is the five-metre cheese cabinet.”

Broadsheet Melbourne: North Side Welcomes Milk the Cow

“The renaissance of Carlton as a food destination continues with fromagerie Milk the Cow opening an offshoot on Lygon Street.”

Fairfax Good Food: Just Open: Milk the Cow, Carlton

“If you’ve ever wandered out of a movie at 10pm, left a restaurant after dinner or got out of work around midnight and thought, damn, I could really do with some artisan blue cave-aged cheese right now — you’re not alone. In fact, Daniel Verheyen is right there with you. After finishing up many a night with a standard cheese board at The Smith, Verheyen decided to roll his love for cheese, wine and hospitality into a late-night licensed fromagerie: Milk the Cow.”

Concrete Playground: Carlton Cheese Dreams at The Cow

“The newest Milk the Cow venture, located on bustling Lygon Street, follows the same basic equation as its St Kilda counterpart: good cheese matched with good booze equals a good – and very delicious – evening. For Verheyen, this was the original concept behind the fromagerie, to offer customers something more than just the standard, uninspiring cheeseboards offered at so many other venues.”

Event – A Day On the Green

We were thrilled to recently be invited to be a part of AAMI’s Lucky Lounge, a VIP experience at A Day On the Green with Alicia Keys headlining. The New York, New York theme made for a gorgeous marquee where guests could relax with private facilities, make up touch ups and exclusive food and beverage.

Our signature cheeseboxes were a big hit, we even designed our menu to be inspired by a New York deli menu!

Check out our photos below – thanks to AAMI and Rochford Winery for having us!
