Milk the Cow Licensed Fromagerie is Melbourne’s first late night licensed cheese shop, established in St Kilda in 2012. We expanded to Carlton in late 2014.
We specialise in artisan cheese and boutique booze paired with good, old-fashioned country hospitality.
Milk the Cow is all about the cheese. Stocking over 180 cheeses (and counting!) from all around the world, our ever-changing selection is curated vigilantly by expert cheesemongers so you can experience fromage at its very best.
All our cheeses are available to enjoy at the fromagerie, or to go. You can order by gram, or consult with our cheesemongers to find your own personal favourites among our selection.
We feature an ever-changing selection of Cheesemonger’s Choice cheeseboards – loaded with everything that is seasonal, ripe and ready to eat.
Choose from three, four or five cheeses on the boards, along with accompaniments including gourmet condiments, breads and housemade lavosh.
One of our much loved pastimes is pairing our cheeses with all manner of boutique booze.
To that end, you’ll find a great array of signature cheese flights on our menu – four cheeses matched to four different wines, beers, ciders, sakés or whiskies, depending on your personal preference.
Each of our house specialty cocktails comes garnished with a wedge of matched cheese.
Our cheese flights and Cheesemonger’s Choice cheeseboards change monthly, so our cheese lovers can explore new cheeses each time they visit.
And we can’t forget our cheese fondues and baked cheeses, gooey little pots of cheesy pleasure that bring people from far and wide. Our Grundlegend Fondue has been voted one of The Urban List’s 50 Meals You Should Have Eaten if You Live in Melbourne and we have been featured in the Good Food Guide’s Best Bars.
We specialise in custom cheese towers as a beautiful cake alternative for weddings and parties, cheese grazing stations, seasonal gift hampers, and, most weeks we host specialty cheese events where we focus on cheese education, happily matching our cheese to boutique beverages and inviting international experts to speak with our guests.
